At this size the vessel decides where you can live. Flybridge, multiple staterooms, crew quarters on the larger ones. Fort Lauderdale exists as the yachting capital it is largely because Port Everglades gives deep, no-fixed-bridge access to the ocean — which is exactly what these boats need.
What it is good for
- Extended cruising: the Bahamas, the Keys, up the coast
- Entertaining aboard without leaving the dock
- Owners who will run it with a captain
What to watch for
- Insurance, dockage, crew and maintenance dwarf the purchase price over time.
- A pre-purchase survey and sea trial are not optional at this level.
- Named-storm plans are a contractual obligation with most marinas and insurers.
The dock it needs
Dock length, depth and bridge clearance become the entire real-estate search. A 60 ft yacht needs roughly 65+ ft of dock, 6+ ft at mean low water and a clear run to the inlet. In practice that narrows South Florida to a handful of canals and the deep-water Intracoastal frontage.
