Catamaran
Shallow draft and room to spread out

Two hulls buy you two things that matter here: very shallow draft and a lot of living space for the length. A cat can sit on a sandbar that would strand a monohull and can carry a family without anyone climbing over anyone. In the Bahamas that shallow draft opens up anchorages nothing else can reach.
What it is good for
- The Bahamas banks and shallow Keys anchorages
- Families and charter use
- Stability at anchor — far less roll than a monohull
What to watch for
- Beam is the problem, not length: many slips and lifts cannot take a cat.
- Haul-out costs more because fewer yards have a wide enough lift.
- Two of every system to maintain.
The dock it needs
Check the slip BEAM before anything else. A 24 ft wide cat does not fit an 18 ft slip no matter how long the dock is. On a private dock, side-tying is usually the answer.
