Raft-up de la comunidad en Haulover

El primer encuentro de la comunidad de Adonait Dock. Nos juntamos en el banco de arena de Haulover, del lado de la bahía, a pasar el sábado entre botes. No hay nada que pagar ni nada que comprar. Venga con su bote, su familia y lo que quiera tomar y comer. La idea es simple: conocernos, que el que recién empieza pregunte, y que el que hace veinte años que navega cuente dónde están los buenos lugares. Cómo llegar: entrando por el inlet de Haulover, el banco queda al oeste, dentro de la bahía. Fondee lejos del canal y deje lugar para que pasen los demás. Antes de salir: · Revise la tabla de mareas. Con marea baja el banco se seca y un calado de más de un metro queda varado. · Fondee usted primero y recién después amarre a otro bote, nunca al revés. · Defensas de los dos lados antes de acercarse, y acérquese contra el viento y la corriente, despacio. · Chalecos puestos para los chicos y para quien no nade: al lado del banco hay canal y corriente. · Llévese todo lo que trajo, incluida la basura. Por eso existen las limpiezas costeras. Si el pronóstico marino se pone feo lo pasamos para el sábado siguiente y lo avisamos por acá. Cualquier duda, escríbanos por WhatsApp.

Going to a raft-up for the first time?

  • Anchor first, then tie up — never raft onto a boat that has not set its hook properly.
  • Fenders on both sides before you get close, and approach into wind and current, slowly.
  • Check the tide: most South Florida sandbars dry out enough to strand a deeper hull.
  • Take out everything you brought in, including the tape off the drinks. It is why the cleanups exist.
  • Life jackets for kids and non-swimmers stay on in the water — sandbars have channels and current right next to them.
