Bowrider
The family day boat for the bay

Seating in the bow, a swim platform in the back and enough power to tow a tube. The bowrider is the boat people buy when the plan is a Saturday on Biscayne Bay with the kids, not a run to the Gulf Stream. Comfortable, easy to learn on, and the cheapest way into boating that still feels like a real boat.
What it is good for
- Protected water: the bay, the Intracoastal, the canals
- Watersports — tubing, wakeboarding, skiing
- First-time owners learning to dock
What to watch for
- The open bow takes spray head-on in a chop; it is not an offshore hull.
- Sterndrives need bellows and gimbal service on schedule, and they suffer sitting in salt water.
- Upholstery is what fails first in Florida sun — check every seam before you buy.
The dock it needs
Fits almost any residential dock and trailers easily. If the home has a lift, a bowrider is the ideal boat for it: out of the water between weekends means far less bottom work.
